According to EllRay, his teacher is smart about what goes on inside her classroom, but she doesn’t know what goes on outside. And outside is when school really happens for kids. If only if she were a Feline Extraordinaire like me, maybe she’d figure out what’s happening when she’s not looking.
Today’s Operation Story Share is a book for the younger side of middle-grade, Ellray Jakes is NOT a Chicken! by Sally Warner.
Here’s what the inside cover says:
Meet EllRay Jakes, the smallest kid in Ms. Sanchez’s third-grade class. But what EllRay lacks in size, he makes up for in personality. And he’s not going to let Jared, the biggest kid in class, call him a chicken or get in the way of his going to Disneyland. All EllRay has to do is to stay out of trouble for one week . . . and keep away from Jared.
Let me tell you, EllRay’s week seems to last forever. Staying out of trouble is hard work when a bully is out to get you. I won’t give away any details, but I loved EllRay’s creative strategies to deal with his problem.
