The Birth of a Writer

They Had All The FunToday I thought you might like to see Cindy’s first “published” book, written for a sixth-grade assignment in 1977. They Had All the Fun is a riveting collection of true short stories about the childhood adventures of Cindy’s grandma and other relatives.

They Had Illustration Most of the other kids moaned and groaned when Ms. White assigned this project, but not Cindy. Her book was not only thoroughly researched, it was carefully typed (on a typewriter!) and artfully illustrated. Little Cindy even sewed the pages together! All this effort earned her an A+. They Had Title Page(In case you were wondering—yes, she always was an overachiever.)

I’m sorry you can’t read They Had All the Fun for yourself. It’s safely tucked away in the Strandvold archives along with her other elementary school masterpieces like Wanda Witch’s New Broom.

About flashthecatblog

I am the Professional Mews for Cindy Strandvold, as well as a huge fan of middle-grade books. Which, coincidentally, is the age Cindy writes for.
